Construction Days 32 / 33
Early January 2007

Morning start and into the afternoon

The special design of hook used on the trucks needed a special design of link so that two trucks using the same hook design could be linked and still maintain the simplicity of the hook and its safety.

This is what was devised and works when put on  duty.

To stop the pivot pin jumping out when in use the head will be made shorted and this will make the bottom longer and the bottom section will be made thinner so that in stead of binding and working its way out when relaxed will drop back into the sloppy fit !!!
You can see that the connector can articulate around a corner.

The truck finished all but drilling a few holes to secure the legs when in use.

Well in fact two trucks have been built - and I for one feel it has been a good effort to have them built in 32 days of construction!!!

Now progress on the re-build of Baudot can be continued.

Jan 2010, it has been found during the use over the last 3 years that the seat is too low. A sub section has now been made which raises the seat by 5 inches and provides a much more comfortable riding position.

Construction Day 33

A few finishing touches such as drilling the holes for the pins to hold the legs on - such a simple job but took 2 hours to do !!!!

The leg retaining pins with fitted chain hooks painted and a second use for the magnetic welding clamps - hold the wet pins !!!!

All these pins will also be made a sloppy fit to make them drop back in rather than working their way out ....

All mods now complete as the leg supports now clear the bridge and all the side rails.
