Construction Day 17

Early start today

First stop was the workshop to assess which bolts and nuts and washers were required ... Next Stop Johnsons in Rainham to purchase the items and also to obtain Red and Blue hammerite paint.

These are the two parts on which the bogies are made up and then attached to the frames.

The two hole to the left of the bolt in the top picture are errors -- well we can all make mistakes but as the part will not be seen in use am I bothered ..!!!

You might ask why the pins are in two locations -- The answer is that the travel limit stop hole is in two different places from the front to the rear of the truck due to the different form of construction used.

This bolt took a great deal of sorting out.

First the shoulder had to be turned where the frame of the bogies sit, then the shoulder for the load taking section in the centre piece and then put the thread on which needed a further turning before being able to your the die.

You can in this picture see where the bolt above is used. The frame have not been fully tightened up but put in place for the photo.

The anti roll spigot has been sorted out. I used a 4BA treaded bolt cut and filed to size.
