Construction Day 11

Mid morning start today - late evening finish !!!

All the wheel blanks are complete and now the tread needs to be machined.

Here the wheel blank is ready to have the initial machining for the tread
The tread has now been cut and ready for the final profiling.

The machining of the wheel has to be done in stages so that the final cuts can be made to all the wheel with the tool in the final position, this will make the wheel identical in diameter particularly.

Here 8 of the 16 total wheels have been completed ready for final profiling.

All the machining to make the truck has so far created one box and one bag of swarf that will be taking for recycling tomorrow ... I need the space.
When I finished in the workshop at 24:00 all 16 wheels blanks had been profiled as you saw the 8 above AND also the final profile had been applied to all 16 across the flat part of the tread.

For tomorrow the flange angle must be cut together with a nice smooth transition from the flange to the flat section.

By Email I have heard that the water jet cut parts will be with me for Boxing day so the trolleys should be finished very soon after -so the goal of Boxing day run with my own trolleys will have been missed but not by much !!
