A very cold day so some curtaining had to be put up to halve the size of the generally heated area

The feed pipe from the left hand water tank was disconnected.

The side tank was then unbolted and the two 4 BA nuts and bolts put in bag no.1

The two pipe to the double clack were released.

The blower pipe was released from the front union and removed rearwards.

The double clack was removed and placed in the blue box as it will be needed as a pattern to make a new clack.

The boiler band nearest to the smoke box was removed and marked as no.1

Similarly followed bands 2 3 4 and 5.

The rear water pipe was disconnected from the right hand tank.

Two further water pipe connections were released from the under side of the right hand tank.

The two 4BA bolts were removed and stored with their nuts in bag no.1 so releasing the right hand side water tank.

The pipe to the single clack was released and the clack removed and placed in the blue box.

The cladding was then removed revealing the cork insulation.

The masking tape retainer was then cut down the centre line at the top and removed.

The front boiler band around the firebox was then removed and marked front.

The rear boiler band around the fire box was released and this allowed the remaining cladding to be released.

The rear of the loco was raised to give access to the pony truck was released by the two locking nuts at the front and the chain at the rear and removed.

The loco was then rolled onto its side to enable release to the lower boiler fixing bolts.

The retaining double plate when loosed was then removed off the front end of the boiler retaining brackets.

The rear boiler band could still not be removed !!

The blower pipe was removed from within the smoke box

The two large steam pipe nuts were released from within the smokebox.

Then with a slight wiggle of the boiler the two steam union parts separated

The drain down stop value was removed and placed in the blue box

The regulator was removed and care taken not to touch the "O" Rings which were separately removed and placed in a tissue.

The rear boiler band could now be removed followed by the cladding.

Lastly the steam tubes at the front of the boiler were removed

The old boiler is now redundant leaving the frames ready to be cleaned up to take the new boiler!!!
