A stand for the engine

20th November 2010

With snow on the ground from the fall overnight and a planned day for welding, even thought it was still snowing the welding went ahead !!!!

This will bring the cranking height up to about 24"

The stand will be painted in Hammerite as the steel is 40 years old and does show signs of rust  - part used for a gate part used as a swing ( re-cycling at its best )!!!

The engine will be bolted to the stand with M6 studding.

6th December 2010

I have decided that I will put wheels on the bottom of the stand. so that if I change my mind they can be easily taken off stud axles will be welded to flat steel and bolted to the bottom angle iron.

Today saw the start of that construction with the materials all cut up and the flat pieces temporarily bolted to the angle iron.

7th December 2010

The fabrication welding was carried out and the wheels fitted.

There still remains to make some chocks to go under a wheel or pair of wheel to stop the stand moving when the engine is running.
