The timing plate carries all the complex
gears and governor etc.
Position the cam shaft idler stud and
lock into place with an M6 nuts and then follow this with a second M6 nut
in lock nuts fashion.
Fit the governor arm upper and lower
bracket (unless let in position after drilling)
Fit the lower bracket. Ensure that both
the supports are properly fitted and that the shaft that runs in them is
free to rotate.
Check that the governor arm fits
between the two brackets when supported by a washer underneath as aluminium
will not easily rotate on the steel.
Fit the timing block noting that the
chamfered corner is nearest to the position of the large timing gear.
Make a continuity check that there is
not direct electrical path between the bolts facing out and the timing plate.
If there is remedy!!
Fit the exhaust push rod with its adjuster,
more so that you know where it is than anything else as you will have to
remove it when passing it through the cylinder head. On the push rod fit
the striker bracket on the same side as the bearing onto the cam will go.
Fit the cam follower securely to the push rod.
The valve push rod is now fitted to the
timing plate. This is secured in place behind the the front support and
sandwiches the spacer to the timing plate. Fix in place with M4 counter sunk
Allen screws.
The governor assembly is the next to
fit. Push the gear through the bearing and the fit the governor to the rear
and secure with the M3 allen grub screw.
