Day four

A reminder photo looking at the top of the rear part of the boiler.

A reminder photo of the left hand side of the boiler looking from the rear.

A reminder photo of the right hand side of the boiler looking from the rear.

The front boiler band has been removed.

All the boiler banding and cover and lagging has been removed.

The regulator has been removed and the "O" rings have hardened !!!! They were not touched in case they had deteriorated to form a material that can burn into your skin ...

The pressure gauge pipe broke as it was being taken apart ... Thank goodness for the strip down rather than this happening when in steam!

This picture also proved which was the pressure gauge in use as I had an identical one but with a makers name on it which had failed so the photo proved invaluable in checking which was which.

The boiler has been washed over with vinegar and is now standing in vinegar to pickle in an effort to clean it up in case it need soldering attention after the pressure test which it is hoped will be carried out on Wednesday 29th Nov 06 !!!!

A simple Tool box to keep all the tools being used on the rebuild together!

The boiler now with the bungs fitted and ready for a hydraulic test at home  to 180 lbs / sq inch!!!

Before the hydraulic test can be made a brass gasket had toi be made and still has to have two "O" rings fitted to close of the steam way from the boiler to the regulator.
