| 26th May 2025 More hammering to day. First I had to cut the MDF former. Then the Firebox had to be cut from the supplied piece so that is had a rounded top. rather than the flat rectangular blank. |
|
| The photo shows the
stage reached after about 4 annealing and hammering !! |

| The piece has been
brought to RED heat where upon when it cools a bit before
quenching it turns black and too hot to handle without pliers !! |

| 28th May 2025 more hamming with different set up as needed to squash the bottom to ensure flat. |

| After
two more annealings and cooling and hammering the first of two
completed and ready to be check at the club before drilling. The top looks wavy but that is what happens as one forms the copper over a former. |

| 31st May 2025 Today I decided to check what parts I had ordered from Model Engineers Laser and to my surprise I had signed up for and account and all my past orders were listed. So I printed them all off and will check off the parts already cut and see what else I need to order. |
Sadly the parts I have
ordered previously do not include some that I need but also they
are not listed so I will need to make a suitable drawing for the
company to be able to cut the parts. |
| 6th June 2025 I made a visit to Maidstone Model Engineering Society for a Fish and Chip supper and took along the parts I have made for the boiler. Whilst progress was assessed as quite good the piece that fits to the barrel was judged to be too tight a fit and allowed no space for silver solder so I still have some hammering to do to adjust. On the Firebox plates the sides are not at right angles to the face so they to need a little adjustment. |
