Day 20/21-- Alterations

May 23rd 2007 -- Since the loco was first run way back the rear suspension had been lowered into a fixed position. This gave the appearance of the front of the loco being higher than the rear.

The rear suspension has now been released and allowed to float and a rolling road made so that checks can be made as to the timing of the valve gear.

Already in hand is the construction of a simple pair of pony wheel to try to stop the "bobbing" that may occur with the rear axle now free to ride up and down.

Whilst the idea came from a magazine the pony is to my own design as I did not wish to cut the main frames. Opposite is the original pencil sketch of idea.

The frames have been laser cut and the construction is well in hand.

17th August

Well that was a long break and I have also now turned 60 years old !!!!

The stand to mount the loco has been build and only  minor items remain to complete.

It has already been used to drill the hole to attach to pony truck.

All the past for the pony truck. The side pieces were laser cut what seems like a long time ago.

This is the axel and the recess and hole drilled is so that the bearing can be oiled from the hole in the end of the axel.

Both wheel on and  ready for a trial fit.

The next item is to fit the springs so that motion of the pony truck is absorbed.

Lastly it will be time for it to be painted.
